S/S 2011 Jewellery forecast
published
12 January 2010 - 19
pages 12546-12564
To emphasise the importance of jewellery
we’ve dedicated a whole issue of downloadable original designs to this exciting area of fashion!
For S/S 2011 statement pieces will not only reference ethnic cultures and antique heritage but also mirror the major clothing trends. A perfect example is the trend for cutout shapes within clothing; this is reflected in cage-like geometric metal cuffs, rings with irregular shaped holes and chevron-pattern hoop earrings. The liberal use of studs in leather goods areas will also influence an increase in tiny stud decorations for spherical pendants or faceted metal additions.
An inspiring issue filled with sketches to download and customise!
ANTIQUE HERITAGE
- romance inspired by the film Grey Gardens
MODERNITY - polished steel and geometric cage-like structures
MYSTICAL - highly embellished, ethnically diverse styles
KITSCH - fun glittery lips and spinning flowers
HARDWARE - pretty arrows and daggers inspired by tattoos
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you download an EPS file, your browser may change the extension from
.eps to .ps - for example,
instead of skirt.eps it will say skirt.ps - you should change the extension back to
.eps - You can do this either in the file download dialog box, or you can change the name of the file after you download it.

SPECIAL
Bridal & Evening trends published
21 October 2009 - 16
pages 12364-12379
The spring/summer trends for filmy lightness, transparency, lace, veiling and draping lead us neatly into bridalwear. Floor-skimming dresses are cut into a curvy ‘40s film star silhouette or a gentler goddess-like empire line. Lingerie frills appear along the bustline or tumble dramatically through the skirt area. Tiers of plissé pleating are pulled into wavy hemlines, adding light volume and lots of movement. These lightweight fabrics meld perfectly into wavy organza capes or sheer netting cut into a fan-shaped bodice and full skirt. Mesh is scrunched into an off-shoulder sash, while semi-transparent fabrics are inflated into gentle puffed skirts.
Beaded decoration accentuates the rich and exotic ethnic-inspired styles that include sari-like draping.
On the tailored side dresses are trimmed with Cornely cording to form a subtle border, others have an integrated corsage or cutout floral design at the shoulder. Shapes are knee to midi-length and the best silhouettes are either fitted or belted.

RETAIL
trend analysis Milan published
25 January 2009 - 29
pages 11322-11350
We’ve analysed the latest Resort, Spring/Summer and Cruise Collections to hit the stores early in Milan. There are exciting developments in shape, structure, fabrics and prints to give you inspiration for the summer ahead.
skirts&trousers - Fuller, softer skirts take over from the structured styles that have been popular through the autumn/winter season. Latest trouser shapes are cropped around the ankle, and have a tapered, slim fit.
dresses - Latest buzz words for spring/summer dresses are asymmetric, batwing and printed. The most popular shapes are shirt-styled sacks, printed strappy sundresses, peasant-style tunics and skinny jersey dresses.
jackets&coats - Tailored jackets are single breasted with a one or two button fastening, while boxy-styles have a '50s-style silhouette.
Cape-like effects continue into coats where wider, kimono-style sleeves are prevalent. Dress coats and trench styles are great for mid-season.
tops&blouses - The new resort collections feature soft draped tops with cowl necklines in sleeveless shell shapes.
Shirt styles throw the emphasis onto the sleeve area which features clever details or bold fullness.
